You might have noticed some of our rolled prints arriving in triangular packaging recently. We’ve been testing this new format against our standard cylindrical postal tubes over the past few months, and we’re now ready to make the switch to an improved design.
Why the change in shape?
Put simply, carriers are moving away from cylindrical tubes. Because they can roll on conveyor belts and require additional handling, many carriers are either refusing to accept them or applying significant surcharges.
Those extra costs would make shipping rolled prints increasingly expensive, so we’ve had to find a more practical alternative. Triangular packaging doesn’t roll, stacks more easily and can travel through carrier networks without those additional surcharges.
From this week, this new format will be the standard packaging for rolled prints shipped from our UK and US facilities. Orders fulfilled in Venlo will continue to use square boxes.
Strengthening our triangular packaging
We know the first prototype we trialled wasn’t quite where it needed to be, and your feedback has helped us make some important improvements.
Our new triangular packaging now includes a double layer protecting every side and reinforced ends for stronger, more reliable protection in transit.
Some of you have also told us that the new triangular shape makes it easier to remove rolled prints without catching or creasing them, so we’re hoping the improved design gives you the best of both worlds – stronger protection in transit and easier handling at the other end.
Thanks to everyone who’s shared feedback with us so far. We’ll keep listening as the latest version rolls out.
