The General Product Safety Regulation (GPSR) is a key new element in the EU product safety legal framework, coming into effect on 13 December 2024.
The GPSR mandates that all consumer products sold in the EU must meet safety requirements. It also imposes specific obligations on businesses to ensure compliance.
What does this mean for you as a merchant? If you sell to EU consumers, these regulations will apply to you. For all EU orders, you must provide safety information about the products to your customers. To support you in meeting these requirements, we have created a technical file template that you can use when offering our products to your customers.
The file includes the following sections:
- Seller Information: Fields for you to provide your (company) name, postal address and email address.
- Product Details: Pre-filled product specifications, with additional fields (marked in yellow) for you to complete.
- Safety Information: This section has already been populated for your convenience.
What should I do next?
To comply with the GPSR:
- Update your product information: Ensure the above details are included wherever you sell your products, whether online or in physical locations.
- Include a packing slip (where possible): To check if your product is eligible for packing slips, refer to column C in the technical file template. For eligible products, copy the required details from columns K to O of the template into your own document to create packing slips for EU orders.
