We know the recent US tariff announcements might be causing some uncertainty, so we’d like to clearly explain what this means for your print on demand business.
What is the de minimis exemption?
The de minimis exemption allowed shipments valued at $800 or under to enter the US without duties, taxes or customs processing. On 29 August 2025, the US ended this exemption for all countries, meaning imports are now subject to duties, taxes and customs checks regardless of value.
How much do the new duties cost?
For orders that are shipped internationally to the US, duties are currently estimated at around 10%. The end customer (your buyer) remains responsible for paying all duties and taxes upon delivery.
Does this affect delivery times?
Yes, orders subject to customs processing may experience longer delivery times due to customs clearance procedures. We recommend informing your US customers about potential delays to set proper expectations.
Are my orders affected?
Approximately 98% of US orders remain unaffected because they're already fulfilled domestically within the US. Only the remaining 2% of orders that are shipped internationally to the US are impacted by the new duties.
Which products are exempt from duties?
Most products are already produced in the US, which helps avoid duties entirely and keeps delivery times short. You can explore the full range of US-produced products here.
What should I tell my customers?
We recommend updating your product descriptions or checkout messaging to inform US customers about potential duties and delays for internationally shipped items. Setting clear expectations upfront helps prevent surprises and improves the overall delivery experience.
What is being done to minimise the impact?
We're actively exploring ways to reduce impact from the new duties, including expanding US fulfilment options. Our global production network and local fulfilment capabilities mean we're well-positioned to assess and potentially expand US-based fulfilment for certain products.
