Prodigi manufactures products in different locations around the world. This allows us to keep delivery costs and times low by shipping the order from the location closest to your customer.
How much it costs to ship your order will depend on the destination country, the product ordered and your preferred shipping speed.
We do not currently have shipping profiles you can import into your store however this is on our development roadmap.
We currently recommend two approaches:
1. Offer free shipping - Offering free shipping in your store is simple to set up and attractive to customers. According to Shopify, free shipping is also known to have a positive impact on cart conversions
If you want to offer free shipping, you should factor the likely shipping costs into your profit margins when setting your product prices.
With free shipping, you’re still in control over which shipping service is used and you can set this up on your store.
2. Weight-based shipping - it’s possible to manipulate the weight-based shipping model for the purpose of charging a per-item flat shipping rate (i.e. $4 per item).
All Prodigi products are published with a default weight of 1 unit (kg or lb depending on where you are in the world). This means that you can set a rate for 0-1 units (i.e. 1 product), 1-2 units (2 products), 2-3 units (3 products), etc.
To ensure that your shipping costs are accurate, carefully review your average shipping expenses for different regions. You may want to set up different shipping rates for each region to reflect the true costs accurately. For example, you might consider charging more for orders shipping to South Africa (Rest of World) than for those shipping to France (Europe).
When creating products, you’ll also need to factor in the cost of shipping them to customers around the world. Keep in mind that you’ll be charged for the cost of shipping each order. To offset this expense, it's important to make arrangements to pass on the shipping cost to your customers.
You can do this in one of four ways:

You can do this in one of four ways:
- Increase the markup on the product. This is the most straightforward option. By increasing your profit margin, you can absorb the extra shipping costs with the added bonus of being able to offer your customers free shipping.
- Set up shipping rates in your store settings.
